Job Description
Yard Manager
$85, 000 - $95, 000 annual salary, exempt
Schedule: 1st Shift. Flexibility is permitted and generally a 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm schedule is fine.
Headcount: Leads 15-20 people including two supervisors across 1st and 2nd shift.
Must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship for immigration cases is unavailable.
The Yard Manager supervises and directs the work activities of all Yard personnel involved in the shipping, receiving and handling of product. This position provides leadership and direction in loading and unloading techniques, receiving procedures, yard organization, inventory handling and control, yard vehicle maintenance and the promotion of a safe working environment. The Yard Manager is involved with plant personnel decisions including hiring, employee development, terminations and disciplinary actions. This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required. The Yard Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment
Facilitation of departmental communication and meetings
Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to Plant Manager
Conducting cycle-counts
Practice proper forklift and yard vehicle operation and preventive maintenance
Management of product rotation
Maintain yard housekeeping, organization and layout
Assurance of maximized payloads
Maintain and build job skills through company training programs
Ensuring departmental policy compliance
Communication with Dispatcher regarding relative issues
Management of departmental training
Organization of daily loading sequence
Department personnel administration
Yard vehicle maintenance schedule compliance
Maximization of departmental labor efficiencies
Minimization of loading errors
Coordination of DOT stock lots
Minimization of departmental overtime
Finished Goods quality inspections
Management of product conversions
Confirmation of customer orders (ASN)
Management of yard organization, layout and map
Management of L/MH certification programs
Management of CPU s and RMA s
Understand and practice company core values
Promote a positive and transparent work environment
Ensure proper management of operating supply purchases via the internal PO system or company credit card

Ability to lift up to 50-75 pounds to a height of 6 feet
Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours
Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremes
Ability to use hands, arms and legs to physically handle and transport finished goods
Position requires full range of body motion including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting and ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles
