Job Description
Job Title: Shipping And Receiving Supervisor
Employee Duties & Responsibilities
1) Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment.
2) Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders and other records to define shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
3) Oversees incoming outgoing shipping activities to make sure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments.
4) Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks lays out position of shipment.
5) Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules weight limits of states.
6) Inspects loading operations to make sure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars truck doors.
7) Inspects material handling equipment for defects notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
8) Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
9) Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage work areas.
10) Compiles records of unfilled orders.
11) Posts weight shipping charges.
12) Prepares bills of lading.
13) Performs other duties as described under Supervisor Master Title.
