Research Assistant
Job Description
Starting rate is $14.00 with a $1 increase after a successful 6 months
The soybean breeding position is very farm oriented. The work environment will be outdoors during the growing season (May to November), and indoors during the winter months and when growing season weather is too wet.
Growing season activities include planting and maintaining plots, hoeing weeds, taking notes, making crosses, harvesting plots, and collecting individual plants.
Legible handwriting is very helpful.
Winter (indoor) activities include sample processing, plant threshing, and preparing samples for future testing efforts. Simple computer skills such as keypunching are helpful but can be trained.
Training for all the various tasks listed is available.
Work ethic, attention to detail, a willingness to learn new skills, a positive attitude, and interpersonal skills are very valuable in this environment.
**Will train- must be reliable and able to stand for 8 hours.
This is a 1st shift position and will remain on 1st shift - benefits and paid holidays after 6 months.
