Project Engineer - Construction
$88, 000 - $105, 000 annual
Full-time, Exempt Position
Manages Others: No

Must be eligible to work in the United States and possess a valid driver s license
Relocation Assistance is available, but preference to existing candidates in within the Columbus, OH metro area.

Support and assist the Senior Project Manager in assuring timely project completion. Projects typically involve Greenfield and Brownfield Projects in the construction of manufacturing facilities. Duties may include developing schedules, budgets, progress reviews, bids, change orders, submittal lists, and reports. Interface with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and company personnel to coordinate efficient completion of a project. Travel/relocate to project sites as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Create project management documentation that may include schedules, material purchases, cost management, progress charts, etc.
Coordinate and communicate with owners, vendors, crews, subcontractors, architects, and suppliers to facilitate timely project completion.
As required, conduct workplace inspections assessing quantity and specification/quality, percent completion by subcontractors, and safety compliance.
Develop operations and maintenance manuals, as required.
Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization.

Education and Experience
A minimum of a Bachelor s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from a four-year college/university or equivalent experience.
Target of 5 years in general construction/related experience and familiarity with standard concepts and practices in the construction field.
Proficient software program use of MS Projects.

Knowledge and Abilities
Proficient in use, or quickly capable of learning Microsoft Project software
Represent the company at all times with high moral and ethical conduct
Knowledge of project management software
Willingness to provide leadership and management
Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
An overall action orientation and strong problem solving abilities including the use of mathematical formulas.

Environmental and Physical Demands of the Position
Typical construction site environment
Physically fit to walk in the construction site from one end to the other, ability to climb up to the roof, stairs, etc. To monitor construction activities
Bending/twisting and reaching
Far vision at 20 feet or further; near vision at 20 inches or less
Lifting and carrying 50 pounds or less
Pushing and pulling objects weighing 60-80 pounds on wheels
Talking and hearing; use of the phone
Ability to travel extensively
Ability to relocate preferred.
Hold a valid US driver s license

Duties/Examples of Work
The following is a list of representative duties. Other duties may be assigned that may reasonably follow and relate to essential tasks:
Prepare complete, accurate and timely submittal logs for construction projects base on project drawings and specifications
Accountable for receiving approved submittals from Architect or Engineer and notifying Project Superintendent of potential schedule impact
Assist Project Manager by preparing all necessary back up relating to change requests
Responsible for timely competition of all required project close-out documents per contact
Distribute contract documents to subcontractors, including drawings, specifications, and general conditions. Include any accepted alternates or addendums with documents

Schedule all required construction meetings with required personnel, subcontractors, architects and owners
Take accurate and complete meeting minutes and distribute timely
Attend Owner/Architect pre-bid, project and closeout meetings
Solicit subcontractors and suppliers for proposal prior to proposal submission time
Review contract with Owner and Project Manager and prepare contract for General Manager to sign
Submit request for surety bond(s) and insurance certificates. Submit with signed contract to Owner
Prepare correspondence with Owner, Architect, Engineers, Subcontracts, Suppliers, etc. Examples of referenced correspondence include, but not confined to the following items: Schedule of values, project schedule, memos, request for information, transmittals and submittals
Submit building permit application, follow-up on review progress and receive upon approval. Submit Check Request (Urgent Pay Request) to Accounting for associated fees according to Urgent Pay Request procedures
During Construction Phase, proactively manage project to achieve quality, schedule, budge and safety. Utilize and maintain tools: schedule and document management to track and record project performance
Maintain customer (Owner, Architect, Engineer, Subcontractor, Supplier, Public Official, etc.) relations and conduct project meetings. Ensure prompt payment from Owner and payment to Subcontractor and Suppliers occurs according to percentage complete timely upon receipt from Owner
Document quality and progress of each Subcontractor and Suppliers. Update Subcontractors and Suppliers of any changes to the plans, specifications and/or schedule
Inform management of productivity, costs, quality control, document management and processing of applications for payment. Notify management of any issues that arise which affects quality, budget, progress and safety
