Job Description

Position: Patient Care Coordinator II

Position Summary:
A Patient Care Coordinator works directly with a specific surgeon assisting in patient care during office hours, and related administrative duties when the physician is not in clinic.

Summary Primary Responsibilities:
o Perform Duties of Patient Care Coordinator for assigned physician
o Educate and answer questions for patients including surgery, post op and RX questions
o Room patients and complete intake forms
o Unwrap wounds, and remove sutures/staples
o Schedule outside testing appointments for patients
o Assess, complete, and submit patient forms including disability, BWC, and return to work. Ensuring that the physician is aware of and signs off as required
o Resolve patient questions, problems, and medication refill requests
o Respond to attorney medical record requests
o Accurately prepare and submit office fee tickets
o Handle patient calls and voice mail requests in a professional and timely fashion
o Obtain pre-authorizations for services as required
o Coordinate services with therapy unit and other health care facilities
o Coordinate patient communication with billing team
o Maintain authorization and other data in Practice Management System
o Ensure that transcription is complete, accurate and filed in a timely manner
o Gel Injection and Xiaflex Pre-cert and scheduling
o Other duties and projects as assigned

Working Knowledge of at least one category:
Surgery Scheduling:
o Coordinate paperwork for surgery patients with the surgery center/hospital
o Schedule surgeries in SCOR/ call for schedule at hospital/fax booking sheet
o Obtain patient history and evaluate need for Pre-Admission Testing (PAT)
o Instruct patients on PAT, surgery, and post-op experience
o Ensure all PAT, and consent forms are sent to proper surgery facility in a timely manner
BWC Coordinator:
o Prepare and track BWC forms (C9 and Medco s) and other paperwork
o Act a primary contact for BWC attorneys, Case managers and Employers
o Follow up on Additional Allowances for billing purposes in a timely manner

Qualifications:
Certified Medical Assistant or LPN preferred
1 to 3 years surgery scheduling or BWC experience required
Health care insurance and medical terminology preferred
Proven Knowledge of ICD-9/10 and CPT coding preferred
Personal computer skills preferred (Microsoft Office and Windows)
Detail oriented and highly dependable
Orthopedic experience preferred
Ability to type 30 words per minute required

Physical Demands by Position:
This position regularly requires the employee stand, walk, use hands, talk, and hear. Bending and lifting may be required to complete certain tasks in regarding to filing or equipment troubleshooting. Specific vision requirements consist of close vision, distant vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
