Medical Scheduling Specialist
Position Summary:
This position is full time position that oversees and implements new and existing strategies as it relates to our phone system and other means of communication with patients, vendors, and external resources. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide leadership for our patient appointment scheduling staff, training, and set an example of excellent service to our patients on the phone, and in person.

Summary Primary Responsibilities- Communications:

A. Handle day to day incoming phone calls, faxes and other communication to schedule patients
B. Communicate with referring providers and practices the status of any referral
C. Utilize Excel to track incoming fax referrals
D. Review and suggest improvements to the scheduling processes using technology whenever possible to streamline process and improve accuracy
E. Coordinate with Practice Operations to assess current ShoreTel VOIP phone system and implement changes in technology or workflow processes as needed
F. Raise and improve the group s brand awareness and reputation through internal and external communication strategies and improvement
G. Use independent judgement and decision making to create, propose and implement communication programs to support the needs of the business.
H. Train and mentor incoming staff
I. Special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
A. Two or more years experience in patient scheduling in a private practice required
B. Orthopedic office patient care and scheduling experience preferred
C. Five years customer service/ communication experience in health care setting preferred
D. Health care insurance and medical terminology preferred
E. Proven ability to adhere to deadlines
F. Critical thinking and decision-making skills required
G. Strong communication skills
H. Solid software skills related to learning third party programs
I. Microsoft Office and Windows fluency
J. Detail oriented and highly dependable
K. Ability to type 30 words per minute required
Physical Demands by Position:
This position regularly requires the employee stand, walk, use hands, talk, and hear. Bending and lifting may be required to complete certain tasks in regarding to filing or equipment troubleshooting. Specific vision requirements consist of close vision, distant vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
