Material Handler
Job Description
POSITION is Located in Chillicothe Store
2031 North Bridge Street, Chillicothe, Ohio
Monday Friday 7am 4pm or 8am 5pm
Some Saturdays 8am noon
Starting pay 18.00 per hour
Promote and sell merchandise to customers utilizing product and applications knowledge to
select the best material to meet customer needs, to achieve maximum gross margin rate. This
includes promoting associated items and introducing new products.
Stay familiar with products, including features and benefits and new and emerging products.
Receive material coming into the building by vendors, customers or other warehouses
accurately and promptly, making sure that receivers are processed in an accurate and timely
manner.
When serving customers, remain polite, courteous, and efficient.
Handle customer complaints promptly and effectively and report customer feedback back to
management.
Answer phones using proper phone etiquette and process customer orders and inquiries,
providing product specifications, prices, and payment terms and by offering substitute
products where appropriate.
Develop and maintain a showroom and warehouse organization strategy and direct staff in
procedures to maintain organization.
Deal with damaged or faulty goods, obtaining authorization and completing necessary
paperwork to expedite credit.
Ensure that branch paperwork is maintained and filed in accordance with company policies.
Assist in the collection of past due accounts.
Assist in day-to-day management of warehouse and counter staff.
Act as a back-up for other branch employees, able to perform in all aspects of branch
operations.
Maintain the cleanliness of the branch including warehouse, offices, counter areas, and
bathrooms. This includes sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and dusting of spaces and cleaning
and/or sanitizing bathroom fixtures and office equipment.
Ability to develop and maintain positive relations with customers, coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to multi-task and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work full time or overtime, if necessary
