Marion company in need of Machinists/Machine Operators!

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES -A Laser Operator is a primary production job at this company. Laser Operators operate laser, CNC programs, computers, overhead cranes, forklifts, and banding equipment. As part of their duties, they are responsible for inspecting parts to verify the parts meet customer specifications. They are also responsible for keeping accurate counts for production and inventory purposes. Their duties include keeping the machine and work area clean.

EDUCATION -While a high school diploma or equivalent is desired, it is not required for this position. Basic Math skills (such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages) are tested and considered as part of the hiring process. Basic computer skills are necessary. The applicant must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for hiring eligibility.

EXPERIENCE -No previous metal working experience is necessary for this position. Previous work in a manufacturing environment and CNC training considered a plus.

TRAINING -On the job training will be provided. The training will include:

Quality Orientation
Safety Rules and Programs
Equipment Operation (Supervised by Qualified Operator)
Laser Operator Work Instructions
Quality Procedures Required for Laser Operator
Forklift Training

Training records will be summarized and available to supervisors to ensure that persons performing Laser Operators duties have been trained and qualified to perform this work at GMSC in a safe and efficient manner.

Laser Operators normally handle parts and tools that weigh up to 40 pounds several times per hour. The parts and/or tools may be carried up to 20 feet away.
