Machine Tooling Operations Manager
Salary: $120k-$140k annual

Leadership Competencies
The MTO Manager coordinates and oversees the Machine Tool Operations (MTO) and Central Parts organization supporting the manufacturing network. This position manages both MTO locations, Findlay, OH and New Miami, OH, driving operational improvements through data driven activities, root cause analysis, and the use of Lean principles. Actively manages multiple teams of technical resources, focused on the repair and qualification of plastic extrusion tooling and equipment used in the processing of plastic pipe. They are accountable to ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner and that the team is using a continuous improvement mindset to improve the quality of their work. This position has comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing equipment, manufacturing processes, and understands the needs of the business to make the right technical solutions. Works with other department leaders and external vendors to define, prioritize, and execute workplans aligning with current strategic goals. Ensures compliance to all policies and standards.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Manage the MTO teams ensuring that all work is assigned, tracked, and completed within the assigned timeframe
Provide a safe work environment for the MTO teams and ensure all team members are working in a safe manner
Assign weekend on call coverage for team members to send out parts and support the plant teams based on standard rotation from MTO leadership
Cooperates with personnel in all departments supporting tooling and pipe processing equipment issues
Creates a team environment that exceeds customer expectations
Aids the plant teams with equipment repairs and costing needs
Drives the use of systematic root cause analysis (RCA) problem solving addressing extrusion mold and die performance and reliability
Implement a continuous improvement culture by embracing Lean techniques that drive MTO s key performance metrics
Ensures all tooling and equipment repair and testing activities are maintained within the Maintenance Connection CMMS
Leads the teams hiring process and ensures that all positions are filled with the best possible candidate as quickly as possible
Approves all timecards and allocation of overtime
Ensures all weekly and monthly reports are accurate and shared with the necessary teams as required
Support the MTO and Central Parts procurement process
Represents MTO providing support on critical projects and strategy execution
Job Skills
Strong communication skills both written and verbal with capability to manage teams located offsite
Ability to implement change and sustain improvements
Systematic problem-solving skills including the use of the 5 why, PDCA, 8-D, and A-3 process
Ability to mentor and coach employees to develop them into their next roles
Strong mechanical repair knowledge and aptitude someone with a hands-on approach
MS Office Suite of software (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Working knowledge of geometric tolerancing, blueprint/equipment drawing comprehension, and the ability to navigate through electronic AutoCAD drawings (2D & 3D)
Ability to manage multiple teams and determine the best approach in making them successful
Understanding of various Lean concepts / principles with the ability to drive implementation
Root cause analysis and plastic processing troubleshooting
Educational Requirements
Four year technical or engineering degree
Equivalent Work Experience may be considered
Preferred Experience
At least 5 years experience in a manager role
Read and write fluently in English
Machine or tooling shop supervision
Plastic extrusion and injection molding processing
Managing a machine shop with internal customers
Tooling and equipment repair
Project management
Managing remote teams
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Work safely in and around plant equipment
Work within the plant climate conditions
Up to 10% Travel (day trips only)
Stand for long periods of time
