Job Description
Job Title: ZL M&M Operator / 2nd Shift
Shift Details:
- 2nd Shift Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 3: 30pm - 2: 00am
- Overtime Schedule: Fridays (Time will vary)
Job Description/Key Responsibilities:
Primary task is to laminate rolls of media & expanded wire using an M&M machine- tasks: load master rolls of media & wire onto their unwind stands; thread both through the machine; run the machine; at the re-wind stand, tag completed rolls with date, media type, & roll-length- then remove the rolls from the re-wind stands and place them in proper storage areas- all while monitoring the media runs to ensure the wire is centered on the media and that glue coverage is acceptable
- Maintain a safe level of glue in the glue tank, adding glue chips as necessary
- Follow a schedule that ensures M&M rolls- in the required efficiencies- are in stock for when the pleater operators need them to meet their production demands
- Document & report wire & media tag information plus M&M roll-types & quantities to inventory personnel
- Help train other employees to operate M&M machines- as needed
- Learn and understand the types of Z-Line medias & their differentiating colors
- Cross-train on other jobs within the ZL department as required by Supervisor and/or PM
- Cross-train on other plant positions as required by Supervisor and/or PM
- Participate in departmental & plant Lean projects as required by Supervisor and/or PM
- Keep work areas clean, organized, & clear of clutter & tripping hazards; keep M&M storage areas organized
- Be flexible to changes in organizational and departmental procedures
- Comply with Corp & facility safety policies including wearing required PPE
- Be aware of LOCK-OUT/TAG-OUT, recognize LOTO-situations, & understand general LOTO
- Review the Best Work Practices (BWPs) of the jobs/positions on which trained or cross-trained
Helpful Knowledge, Skills, Experience, & Motivation Factors:
- Have good communication skills
- Be able to read and write English [production reports and work orders]
- Have good basic math skills
- Be able to read a tape measure to 1/16"
- Be able to read, write, and understand fractions to 1/16"
- Be able to multi-task
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs alone; use lifts for lifting heavier materials/goods
- Be able to stand, bend, & reach a majority of the work day
