Job Description
Summary:
The Assembly Operator will perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive
operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies used in the
production of wire and cable harnesses. The Assembly Operator must be comfortable sitting or
standing for 7-8+ hours/day and possess good manual dexterity to manipulate and assemble
small components, electronic pieces, wires, and cables. This position may require the use of
tools such as tweezers, screwdrivers, scissors, hand cutters, semi-automatic cable cutters,
jacket strippers, soldering irons, magnifying lenses, microscopes, calipers, DMM s, crimping and
terminating machines, ultrasonic welders, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
o Production of wire harness and cable assemblies using hand and/or power tools
(including specialized crimpers, drills, soldering tools, screwdrivers, wire strippers,
precision measuring instruments, etc.)
o Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, work orders, and specifications to define
sequence of operations, type & size of cable fittings, parts list, quantity, and finished
dimensions
o Ability to read and understand the assembly router for step-by-step instructions on how
to manufacture the wire harness and cable assembly
o Selects and installs dies, jigs, applicators, or other accessories in crimping/terminating
machines
o Perform hand crimping and hand stripping of wires, cables, and electrical terminals
o Conduct in-process inspections, continuity checks, and pull tests on product in
accordance with quality specifications
o Work collaboratively with Management team to correct and improve upon any
documents related to the assembly process
o Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
General Requirements:
o Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, or other related fields, preferred but
not required
o Ability to work well in teams or alone
o Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, quick changing environment
o Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
o Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
o Willingness to ask questions, ask for help, or ask for further instruction
o Willingness to work overtime if requested
o Willingness to help in all departments as needed
o Willingness to learn new skills/methods
o Motivated and detail oriented
o Attention to detail, excellent hand dexterity
o Proficient in basic math skills
Education & Experience:
o High school degree or equivalent
o Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English
o Good verbal and written communication skills
o Individual must be able to work at the pace necessary to meet customer demands with
minimal supervision
o Self-motivated team player
Physical Requirements:
o Ability to use hands to manipulate small parts and components
o Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch
o Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to
25 pounds
o Specific vision requirements include close vision and color vision
