Job Description
Performs a variety of engineering work in Controls Design; Project Management, installation & implementation, training operation and maintenance Teams on electrical design. Will work closely with other engineering disciplines in development of the application of new systems or refinement of existing equipment and processes.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Evaluates new & used equipment, designing electrical controls for machinery and plant systems.
Provides troubleshooting assistance to plants in the event of equipment malfunction. May work with plant or outside technical support personnel on such problems.
Design and programming of electrical/mechanical systems for specific equipment and general plant installations. Examples would be extruders, corrugators, downstream equipment, plant material handling systems, off-line production equipment and general plant electrical utilities.
Maintains Control software files & drawings, keeping them current and accurate.
Travel to facilities to support, install and provide training on projects. Travel in US and Canada, anticipated travel requirements 30% -35%.
Perform installation and debugging of new or used equipment and plant systems.
Perform Machine acceptance test and debug of equipment from OEM s.
This Position Should Possess The Following Skills/knowledge
Experience troubleshooting electrical components, AC/DC motors/drives, PLC s
Allen Bradley - RSLogix 5, 500 & 5000. Panel Builder & Factory Talk View.
Reading and creating electrical diagrams
Automation Direct DirectSoft 5 & C-More.
Modifying & creating PLC & HMI programs for the following manufacturers - Automation Direct, Siemens & Allen Bradley.
Siemens Step 7, ProTool, WinCC & Si-Motion Software.
Educational Requirements
2 or 4 year Engineering Degree (optional if equivalent work experience)
Preferred Experience
Plastics industry
1-10 years
Physical Requirements
Walk and crawl around equipment, also kneeling or sitting in front of a panel to terminate control wiring.
