Job Description

Pharmacy Tech

1. Primary duties are to receive and fill prescription requests.
2. These prescription requests can come from hospitals, physicians, nurses or directly from the patient.
3. Associate will be overseen by a licensed pharmacist.

1. Be at least 18 years of age (or as required by stated law)
2. Accurate data entry skills
3. Type 30 wpm
4. Maintain information confidentiality
5. Able to read, write and speak English fluently
6. Strong time management and organizational skills
7. Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
8. Willingness to be a team player and promote a positive team environment
9. Excellent attention to detail
10. Flexible and proactive to meet varied patient needs
11. Self motivated and able to work independently
12. Able to effectively present information to the patient and in small group situations
13. Dedicated to excellence and quality
14. Able to collaborate with other healthcare professionals
15. Strong interpersonal and people skills
16. Experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
17. Able to add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure; this may include using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and being able to compute rate, ratio and percent
18. Successful completion of a drug screen
19. Must complete appropriate skills assessment
20. High School diploma or GED

1. Answer patient questions and troubleshoot/resolve them promptly
2. Understand the various challenges of specific diseases
3. Assist patients with their drug therapy and pharmacy care issues
4. Process new and refill prescriptions
5. Promote patient s drug compliance
6. Report all drug adverse events
7. Establish and maintain good relationship with physician/healthcare practices
8. Assist in streamlining communication with the patient, insurance companies, pharmacist, nurses, lab and other healthcare related parties
9. Accept the full responsibility for the patient s pharmacy care plan
10. Work as part of a team to provide support to other members of the healthcare team
11. Maintain current notes and paperwork related to the patient s drug therapy and pharmacy care plan
12. Coordinate responses and resolutions with appropriate internal and external parties
13. Perform all tasks in a safe manner that is consistent with corporate policies as well as state and federal laws

1. Stand for long periods
2. Pick and pinch small tablets with fingers and seize, hold, grasp or turn objects with hands
3. Perceive the size, shape, temperature or texture of objects by touching with fingertips
4. Lift and push or pull up to 10 pounds
5. See objects at close vision and be able to identify and distinguish colors
