Report to: Staff Engineer (Registered Ohio Professional Engineer)
Work hours: As required to perform job function, generally 7: 00 am to 5: 00 pm
Design of temporary construction systems and processes to help efficiently, effectively and safely build a project to
the specifications of the client. Such systems include: retaining walls for braced and tied-back excavations (soldier
pile lag walls & sheet pile walls), steel falsework design for supporting structures under construction, formwork
design, excavation plans, dewatering, steel design and the design of worker safety systems.
Designing and authorizing work plans, providing calculations, reviewing and solving field problems as they arise,
developing and submitting drawings for internal review and for customer approval.
Review of internal engineered drawings & designs prior to being stamped, looking for errors, omissions and
Travel roughly 10% of the week to visit job sites. Site visits are for solving field issues, providing quality control,
verifying information and inspecting installed construction systems.
Creation and review of various submittals as required by contract with the owner.
Cross-train and help to develop fellow team members.
Accountable for review of plans and specifications as assigned.
Take-off, pricing, purchasing and the review of material purchase orders and subcontractor scopes of work.
Setting up pricing change estimate in HCSS for revisions to the scope of work.
Innovation; take a CREATIVE approach to make the work more efficient and better. Find a better way to build
projects, improve communication, and carry out daily assignments.
Drafting of completed design work to create shop drawings that communicate clearly to the field construction crews.
3D modeling for construction of machine control modeling as required.
CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS:
A four year degree from an ABET accredited college or university in engineering or civil engineering technology.
Status as an E.I.T. Or a willingness to achieve such status.
Strong understanding of reinforced concrete design, steel design, structures, statics and mechanics of materials.
An ability and willingness to work with all personnel in the company providing a support role as an engineer.
AutoCAD experience would be a plus, though not required.
Leadership and teamwork skills.
A professional attitude and a solid ethical set of ideals.
A valid state driver s license and safe driving record.
